It was a day that every bride dreams about. The weather was perfect, the sun was shining just for them, and they were right back at the very place they first met 8 years prior. It was the day Shannon would become Kevin’s wife, and he her husband. A day that was always written in their future - even when they didn’t realize it back in 2007.
Kevin and Shannon are a couple that you just want to know. They are genuine, grounded in their family and share a deep love and respect for each other and their beautiful daughter Sierra. They met at the JW Marriot Starr Pass in 2007 when they both worked in the Catalina Steakhouse. Shannon was the pretty, personable server and Kevin was the good looking chef. They became friends and remained just that for the next couple of years. It wasn’t until 2010 when they realized that their bond had grown past a friendship and they needed to be more. I loved the story of how Kevin proposed to Shannon. I have included it below because it is an event so true to who they are, what they value and the life they’ve built around family.
Kevin proposed on July 6, 2014, we were on a Ganem family trip to Flagstaff. Kevin's family had a tradition of coming every year to their timeshare in Flagstaff since Kevin and his brother were kids. This particular trip was a special year because we had all 4 generations present, Kevin's father was battling cancer and it was very important to him that we were all together. On the second night of the trip, we all cooked a traditional Lebanese family dinner and as Kevin's father gave a toast to the family, Kevin stepped in and said he had something important to say, and proceeded to get down on one knee and proposed in front of the family. The family cheered and Sierra was especially excited, she told everyone the story of how "Daddy got down on one knee and gave Shanny a ring!"
Being a father of a teenage girl, looking at moments like this makes you wish you had a time machine to go back. If anyone knows me they know I am a sucker for the bond between a father and daughter. During these moments I could look around and see peoples eyes floatingin the crowd (myself included, no tuff guy here) Little Sierra is truly the apple of Kevin's eye, look how adorable she is. I may add quite the ham for the camera.
Kevin and Shannon, I know I’ve said this before, but I am lucky to know you. Thank you for letting me document your day and be a witness to the bond you share as a family with Sierra.
